Story of the Forest

Story of the Forest artist impression by teamLab

Drawing inspiration from the National Museum of Singapore’s prized William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings, Story of the Forest brings to life 69 drawings from the collection within the museum’s Glass Rotunda. This immersive installation by internationally renowned Japanese digital collective teamLab is divided into three key experiences, beginning with the Upper Rotunda, followed by The Passage and ending at the Lower Rotunda.

As part of the museum’s 130th anniversary celebrations, three special scents have been introduced to Story of the Forest, an interactive art installation by teamLab that is housed within the museum’s unique Glass Rotunda. The first scent, Welcome Flowers, greets visitors as they enter the upper rotunda, bringing to life the constellation of flowers that cascade from the top of the dome structure. As visitors make their way through the passage, they will encounter the second scent, Story of the Forest, as they interact with the flora and fauna within the virtual forest. The digital landscape comes to life at the base of the Glass Rotunda, where visitors will experience the third scent, Relaxing Forest, as they witness trees flourishing before their eyes, as well as playful animals coming out of their hiding places amid the foliage.
